TR6 Differences between TR4a and TR6 convertible tops

Hi guys - are these top frames the same or different?

Frames are pretty close to each other. Biggest difference I can think of right now is the way they attach to the WS frame. The TR4a has a luggage type latch, where the TR6 has pins that go into the frame from the top. I have put a TR6 convertible top on a TR4a frame and it worked fine. Years ago I bought a TR4a that didn't have a top frame. I had an extra tr6 top frame and WS. Changed them out and it all fix like from the factory.

Hey! I could use a TR4A one. Will work it off by doing dirty jobs on a certain Sombrero wearing car. Or I'll send the kids over to clean the pool.

Since no one will have an idea what the sombrero reference was about, this is the car Tom and I ran in the 24 Hours of Lemons last weekend before a water pipe broke and cooked it like a holiday turkey

I had never thought of putting a TR6 top frame on a TR4A. Interesting though since didn't they improve the door window sealing by adding rubber seals at the sides?

We bought a 1997 Miata a couple months ago and I've been impressed by the seal of the soft top to the door windows (rubber all around).
