TR2/3/3A Differance between the new Delrin Ctr bush and the original Silentbloc bush

I just damaged one of he Silentbloc bushings on the long steering arm trying to get the arm out. Looking in the catalogs there is a choice of the originals and the new ones that were originally designed for racing. The new sets are 3 times the cost. How and why are they that much better?

Possibly they aren't. The price is based more on what they cost to manufacture, than what the market will bear.

However, I use an earlier (and even more expensive) version, and I like them. They have already lasted roughly 20 years and I see no reason they won't last another 30. Quite a contrast to the replacements I used before that, which only lasted 3 or 4 years at best. (Possibly the replacements have improved in quality since then, certainly the originals were much better.)

The other advantage is that they turn freely, reducing steering effort. Maybe not by a lot, but it definitely takes some effort to force the original Silentblocs to distort.

Lastly, I know the guy that makes the Delrin ones, and I like the idea of helping to support his TR racing habit; rather than some company in the far east. YMMV and all that.

Thanks Randall! Ya me too and mine are 30+ years old and if it wasn't for me being in a hurry we would not be having this conversation. I was thinking that the Derling ones would turn but didn't think the older style was suppose to so I thought something else was better.
