There was a discussion regarding grinding this and that to make a tool to remove filler and drain plugs on another forum a couple of days ago. Lots of ways to do it, but it required more work than this lazy person was willing to do. I took a piece of 7/16" bar stock/key stock and press fit it into an old unused 12 point 13mm socket.

I found that using a 3/8" drive without any socket attached also works, a little bit wiggly, but not too bad.
 
My plug is too wiggly and tool tight in the dif and I like Rut's Idea. A soon to come job I hope taking the diff apart for new seals and a 3.9 Rear End.
 
I use a 3/8” drive, if too lose, bend a penny at a 90 angle to take up the slack.
 
I also use a 3/8 drive but, a 1/2 ground down can work also
 
I use a piece of 1/2 key stock ground to fit and simply put a open end wrench or Cresent on it. Half a turn and it's loose enough to remove by hand.

I took the the 7/16 square stock and first ground the end and corners to be a little more rounded then had it welded into the 1/2 twelve point socket for a 3/8 drive.
 
As I mentioned on another post; I have been using the white plumber’s tape on the drain and fill plug threads....no more drips.
