I'd been draggin' my feet because I ~know~ what's involved in disassembling the under-dash of a Benz. Couldn't stall any longer, as Herself actually dresses up to go to work. She was gettin' 'cranky' about a little perspiration.
Go figure. <shrug>

Saturday AM I started pullin' all the trim bits out: floor carpeting, center console, radio, A/C control unit, kickpanels, instrument pod. GAH!! There are five vacuum motors attached in various places on that plenum assembly. Two of the most awkward to get to were not working, and when the A/C was switched on it would intermittantly blow cold, then go to FULL heater mode... bread oven hot. Three days later, with two new vacuum motors installed it runs cold air out the vents, and she has a radio "upgrade". I put a Sony AM/FM/CD unit in to replace the old AM/FM cassette player.

I no longer need to sleep with one eye open, at least not for a few weeks...
'til the next thing to catch her attention becomes 'priority'. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

A happy 'smits means a happy Doc.
The A/C in the 5 seems to not be workin, d'ya think you could fix the vacuume servos on that?
Oh wait. I had the A/C working on the 5 today.. But I had to turn it off cause it's supposed to rain tonight

I thought it had a 'constant flow' A/C?

Or have you finally duct-taped *all* the rust holes? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

Yea, that too. I have not resorted to duct tape on the body. The rust is bad enough. I'd be %100 woodchuck if I covered it over with duct tape.
I was referring to the big Vinyl vent snaps over the passenger area.

You said "woodchuck"!!!

mehheh.

*cough*

*gasp*

hehee...

Doc, isn't that MB 123 series where the A/C conveniently located behind the glove box in an easily accessable position. Not like the 126 where the whole thing has to come out for A/C service

It's a 123, yup. Your definition of "convenient" may be a bit overstated tho. I ~did~ manage to access/remove/replace the two errant vacuum motors without yanking the entire heater/AC plenum. Just everything ELSE surrounding it. The main plenum is in the same configuration as the 126. I still need to get to the defrost/center vent flap motor. Thru the instrument pod opening will be my route for that.
