Starting in 1977, stripped seats were an option in the MGB and continued up to and including 1980. Reading Jonathan Woods book "MG", a photo showing the optional seat. Looks nice. First one I've ever seen. Possibly they weren't on the export models? PJ

I've seen them in various books, never seen them in person though. Don't know if they ever came to the US.

Coming from the UK, I've seen lots of these seats and I must say, I find them really ugly. TYhey come in different colours but the orange ones are particularly nasty. leather or Vinyl are much nicer.... in my opinion.

And here you go...

Ok, it was a black and white photo on an angle, with a pretty girl in the picture! My mind was slightly interrupted observing the seats. I agree, in color it doesn't look very nice. Kinda wimpy also. PJ

Does the phase ---" What were they thinking," come to mind ???

2 comments, one, the car had been on the market 15 years, they had to do something to "jazz it up"; two, it was after all, the 70s, platform shoes, shiny polyester "silk" shirts, Gremlins, LeCars, Chevettes, men's jeans with rainbows on the pockets, the seat covers were understated elegance compared to some of the crap that was out there.

I recall AMC doing a similar treatment in Pacers and Gremlins.

Yep. And don't forget the "LEVI'S Edition"!

And our own beloved plaid seats in the Wedges.

Maybe that's how the GREMLIN got it's name! :highly_amused: LOL! PJ

Basil, I even had an Avocado colored suit back then, super wide lapels and bell bottom pants! Naturally with wing shoes. I think I saved the suit, just in case they come back in style!
