Okay... with much help from this thread:

I think I have my new rear brakes assembled on the bench. Here's what I wound up with (keep in mind, these are the later style rear brakes from a '74 Midget, to be installed on a Bugeye).

Driver's side (LH):

The rubber boots for the parking brake are on the outside of backing plate, stretched over the little tabs that protrude from the opening.

Did I do this correctly?
 
Looks correct to me. But lets see if anyone with a keen eye picks up any issues.

It's a very good bike. I love the looks, and it's a fun bike on a twisty mountain pass. Its limits are still higher than mine, although I'm using more of the bike's capabilities than I do my last bike. It's probably a bit small for me (at 6'1" my legs are bit cramped) but it's workable. Surprisingly good on a dirt road as well.

Those Thunderbirds were a nice bike, too. Glad you're enjoying it.

I think the springs that go in these holes are what GeeBee1 is talking about.

No springs there on late model spridget the adjusters and slave cylinder hold them in place.
 
I was teasin about the springs, they are only on the earlier ones :wink:
 
hello, isn't that bottom spring supposed to be on the back side of the shoe on the left side looking at picture.
 
All springs are on the back side of the shoes, it's just not clear in the photo due to the camera angle.

GeeBee1 -- I thought you might be joking, but I'm such a novice at this I just didn't understand. :smile:
 
I think it is Alan, I think the picture is deceiving...it would be really hard to thread it through the front on one side and the back on the other! :wink:
