Did I cook the control box and the dynamo?

When last we <span style="font-style: italic">spoke</span> I was having to tighten the pinch bolt on the '62 BT7 accelerator linkage.

While doing that my shop light's metal hood accidentally touched across the terminals of the control box. Sparks and that ozone smell ensued.

All systems were dead until a neighbor gave me a spare control box to install. It's up and running and I'm driving again, but the ignition light won't go out after the engine starts.

I followed the troubleshoot test in my manual (jumper the dyno's terminals and use a volt meter to reveal the charging rate) to no avail -- no charge.

DID I COOK NOT ONLY THE CONTROL BOX BUT ALSO SOMETHING IN THE GENERATOR?

I'll investigate this weekend, but what's your guess on what I'll find?

You may want to try polarizing the generator before you pull it out for repair or replacement. See this link for a how-to.
