detailing question

I'm doing some detailing for a customer BJ8 and he tells me the mount brackets on the heater pipe are suppose to be black. I know the intake, exhause manifold, and heater pipe are suppose to be engine color. I can't imagine the factory taking the time to paint the fixed mounting brackets black. The brackets are soidered to the heater pipe.

Those brackets are painted engine color.

I would think that he's referring to the litle clips that hold the capillary tube, they are a phosphate black.

From the 2006 Edition of the Orginality Guide for Restorations and Registry Inspections,no mention is made of the clips, but the brass heater return pipe is engine green. I would think that the factory would have sprayed the engine with the clips on, hence the clips would be engine green. Anyone know the correct answer?

Speculating here, I would think the clips wouldn't be attached until the capillary tube was installed. Which wouldn't happen until the engine was in the car. I'm thinkin' zinc plating for the clips.
