Describe thumb nut size and thread on speedo stud

Re: Describe thumb nut size and thread on speedo s

Are you kidding???

I'm taking mine out for a cleaning this fall. I'm happy to know what you posted in advance of doing the job.

Re: Describe thumb nut size and thread on speedo s

Just put them on the grinder wire brush wheel first to clean them up.

Re: Describe thumb nut size and thread on speedo s

I used the wire wheel brush attachment on my dremel to clean up the threads since getting all around the studs with the grinder wire wheel looked to be 'iffy'.

Edit: Actually that was on the smaller gauges .. probably could use the bench wire wheel on the speedo and tach.

Cheers,
John

Yeah, the Dremel wire wheel brush cleaned up my
entire group of dash gauges.

Want to post pics, but my computer went on the fritz and
I'm trying to get the data or repair her. She is being
operated on now (by me of course, because any other way
just wouldn't pay, and her prognosis is less than fair
to guarded.

Wish me luck on computer file retrival...asked for help
at the bar after I ordered a strong whiskey.

Re: Describe thumb nut size and thread on speedo s

to clean the threads past the gauge body is a waste of time. The bracket sits above the body so the nuts only go so far.

Well, A waste of time is a little harsh. How about not needed for the nut to spin on.

Re: Describe thumb nut size and thread on speedo s

When I had my speedo overhauled at Nisonger, I asked that he send me all nut thumbnuts, which kindly obliged. Ya ain't gonna find those anywhere 'cept a gauge shop. You won't know how long I looked....

I appreciate your comments, there, Bill. I just got
stubborn about not changing anything and finding the
darned nuts that fit. I was so curious -- and thought
I'd have something to offer the forum.

Turns out a nice lady from Mo Ma says for $5 she'll send
me a couple. Probably could discern I was about to cry...
Sent the dough.... awaiting their arrival.
