Derrington wheel

Greetings all,
I've just aquired a vintage Derrington whell that I want to change-out on my 64 Healey. What's all involved? Do I need any special tools. There's nothing in the shop manual at all.

You will need an adapter hub, either adjustable Moss 454-297 or non adjustable Moss 454-347. Your original control head (trafficator) will fit inside the new hub. You will have to disconnect the four wires from the trafficator where they come through the steering box and pull them up through the stator tube. Tie a strong string to the bundle of wires because you will have to pull that bundle back down the stator tube once the new wheel is installed. To remove the old wheel, there are 3 set screws that must be removed from the control head, then gently pull it straight out of the steering wheel with the wires. There should be a circlip that needs to be removed before the wheel will come off. Use the search feature to get additional info.
 
If you have an adjusteable wheel then do a search for Moto Lita on this forum. I fitted one about three months ago and listed the steps required. Please note that the adjustable collar unscrews CLOCKWISE when you look at it mounted on the car. They are sometimes jammed.
 
Yes, although not real active. As a matter of fact, you just reminded me that it is time to renew my membership.
