dented oil pan

I have always had a seriously dented oil pan (thanks,PO) that does not leak at the rim. Has anyone sucessfully straighted (pounded out) the dents and using what to do it? Or I could be interested in a good/straight used one?? I'm not interested in an alloy one.

They're pretty easy to straighten.

Ray Caivano had an approximately 1" steel bar about 6" long that had flat plates welded to the ends. The plates were maybe 2" square x 3/8" thick and had a variety of radi (plural of radius...) on the corners. Worked great.

Point is, nearly anything could be used, just take care to "unfold" the metal without causing it to fracture, and then leak.

It's taken for granted that you have the oil pan off to do this...
 
I was driving my wife's 3000 and went over something that put a serious dent in the pan, so much so that the crank was brushing against it!

I removed the pan, rested it against a bag of play sand and using a large oval lead sinker as a dolly I gradually worked out the dent.

I've been asked to take dents out of almost everything. Refrigerators, garage doors, stove hood vents, and even a bicycle. So go ahead, ask me to take the dent out of your oil pan. Bring it on I say!

Th, depending on where the dent is, you may be able to fix it yourself. Wanna post a photo of the dent? I'll give you my 2 cents.
