Deep Puddle

check out the guy holding the shopping bag. Truly a concerned citizen willing to help out.

There was a big discussion about this over at miatanet. Many people over there thought it was staged because the pictures were well set up and captured the whole event from splashdown to sinking. Looks like there was some serious construction going on, or a water main broke and caused a sinkhole. I think the older man (and woman) were just trying to get out of the way of the people who were trying to (and were probably physically better suited to) help.

Nah, I bet he was just one more cruel joke lover, and probably laughs everytime he logs into the site as well.

trying to get out of the way?? It looks like his feet are glued to the pavement! Maybe he didn't want to get his new shoes dirty or maybe he is waiting for the bus.

I vote that it wasn't staged. It would be an expensive stunt for someone in the czech republic.

Gee that reminds me of something I saw several years ago when headed home after work, except it was a minivan and a wide strip of fresh concrete. Seems this woman felt, even thought the truck was still there pouring it, that there was no reason she couldn't drive across this road repair where new sewer lines had been laid. Unfortunately, the wet cement area was wider than the van was long... When I got there the van was sitting in the middle, sunk past the door bottoms in rapidly solidifying cement. How'd you like to explain that to your significant other....

Looks like a lazy bugger to me. He didn't even move enough to turn around. Just moved his head to get a better view.

I'm sorry...why is this posted in "humor"...am I missing something here...what's funny about this...I don't think the women that drove her car into this...and probably scared the crap out of her thinks it's funny...why is it that "we" think someone else in pain or trouble is "funny"...I've never understood that...and I hope I never do...

Please believe me...this has nothing to do with you specifically...it is more about humor in general...and that viewpoint...some glasses are half-full others are half-empty...same glass...different views...

I realize that some folks have always laughed at the plight of others...unthinkingly (is that a word)...however if you place yourself into their shoes at the time...I don't think that your examples would be very humerous to you...even though you yourself might laugh at it...

There are tons of things that we as humans do to one another or to ourselves that do not enrich our humanity...and laughing or finding jest at the moment of someones misery is one of them...everyone of us has had an embarrassing moment in our lives...while others may laugh at you at that moment...what is inside your heart... isn't it pain?

Laughter is good for our souls...I was and am not a fan of American Home Video's for exactly the same reason...most...if not all...of those videos...were about someone getting hurt...and we laughed at it...I guess that's why the Roman Colossum was so popular for some people...for others it was not...

I'll get of my soapbox now...

Gee that looked like some of the potholes when its spring in Winnipeg. Actually we had a concrete truck just about disappear. The road just opened up and there was a big sinkhole.

Henri;
Sometimes we just have to laugh at an incident.. As for myself, I remember one particular Pro motorcycle race I was in.. I was leading at the time, came over the jump, landed, downshifted and threw the bike into a "full lock" right-hand broad-slide.. As I was about to apex the corner my bike jumped out of gear.. This immediately straightened the bike out (usually it "high-sides" instead) and the second place rider passed me.. I "T-Boned" him right square in the center of his bike.
I went over the handlebars and landed square on my head.. knowing that there were ten other racers behind me, I scrambled, on hands and knees, to the outside of the track.. the bike was doing an "end-o" in the air, it came down and landed on my foot, breaking it..
There was nothing funny about the incident.
A couple of months later when I saw the 8mm film of the "racing incident".. Still wearing a cast on my left leg, from the knee to the toes, I thought I was going to bust a gut laughing.. It was the funniest thing I had ever seen..
I guess I'm the only guy in the world who can land on his head and break his foot
