Decreasing Intensity of LED Lighting

We have an LED light bar mounted on the front bumper of our dune buggy (yes: it's little, but still not an LBC) and I was wondering if anyone could provide advice on how to decrease the intensity of the LED lighting down to a level that would make it suitable as a substitute for daytime running lights. Figured I'd ask on this site, as it's the one I'm most familiar with. (We rarely use the light bar, as it is mounted too low and the adjustments aren't fine enough to allow proper aiming of it so that it doesn't blind on-coming drivers at great distances). Thanks, Doug

Re: ? how to 'detune' LEDs?

Sounds like you want a dimmer switch. Only some LEDs are dimmable, and I suspect the ones in your light bar may not be.

Re: ? how to 'detune' LEDs?

You may be able to fit a resistor(s) in series with the light but I'm not qualified to tell you what value you will need.

You may have to find someone cleverer and give them more info about your light bar.

Re: ? how to 'detune' LEDs?

Simply place a diode forward biased in series with the led if you switch it in and out that will be like going to low beam whenit is in you may have to play with several diode as they do not all have the same resistance when forward biased. ??
