Just finished sandblasting the front suspension components and put the first coat of primer on this afternoon.

I am using Eastwood Chassis Black this time around and the only thing that I don't like about it so far is the drying time. It requires two coats of primer and two coats of chassis black....each coat requires a dry time of 24 hours.....


Will let you know how it turns out.

Excellent- I bought Eastwood's as well for the TR3A frame, I plan on putting it on top of their Rust Encapsulator (sold together as one of their many kits). Are you doing all the application with a gun? That is my preference.

I decided to go with the POR15 for the frame.

I am spraying the Eastwood product from Rattle cans....works for me.

That's funny MPL. It kind a reminds me of some of those wind chimes deals you see at "craft fairs", too.
Great project.
 
That looks lovely! I hope they don't go the way of our Christmas tree. Spent this afternoon decorating only for it to come crashing down this evening!!

Of course with me, you know its the planning phase! I have the stuff, and some days off coming up here at year end so the 'plan' is to get the frame painted then. We'll see!

Lookin' good! I had a similar rig full of MGB bits here last month.
 
After 2 coats of Eastwood Chassis Black Primer followed by 2 coats of Eastwood Chassis Black, I have to say that I am pretty happy with the outcome. I am excited to get these parts off the tree and on to the car this weekend.

It looks like that one branch of the tree is getting kind of weak. Might be time to do some triming. Great job with the paint, and prep work. Even more fun putting it back together.
 
I resisted the urge to take the tree down yesterday and thought that I would give it some additional drying time....according to the Eastwood directions, you are not supposed to use the part for a couple of days even after it has dried fully.

Skip, yep, poly bushing kit ready to go this weekend!

It is nice....funny though...I was fretting over getting fingerprints on my freshly painted parts after picking them up to inspect them....

Tonight I am going to get greasy again as I am going to pull apart the front suspension from the parts car..don't need the parts currently, but I thought I had better break them down. I have been trying to be methodical in my approach regarding having two sets of parts to choose from. What I have been doing is breaking the project down into little pieces. Emergency brake for example.....I looked at all the parts/cable required and took the best from each to refinish....I then move the parts I didn't use into a seperate bin in the basement. So, I have bins of parts in the basement from both cars....labelled "white car", "green car", and one labelled "spares". Parts are pulled from the "white car" and "green car" bins and sorted. Best parts are cleaned up/media blasted/rebuilt etc...back up parts go into the "spares" bin. By the end of it, I should have spares to complete another full car :driving:

I think that some of these parts I can use for a TR4 right Tom!

That Eastwood Chassis paint dries nice and hard, but as you stated, you must leave it alone for a few days. I did the same on my chassis but powder coated most of the suspension pieces. Resist the urge.
