Decopnstruction of Rear End over, Reconstruction Begins

Bugsy IV's Rear End received several coats of Gloss Black today and tomorrow will start the reconstruction process. Springs are all painted just need to bolt them together. 3.9 Diff needs a bit of Aluminum colored silver, on it before I bolt it back in, and new 207FF Sealed Wheel bearings and seals are ready for install. The PS Big Nut did not want to come off and finally needed to resort to using the Impact Wrench to break it loose.

Hylomar on the Diff mating surfaces or something else? And the 207FF Wheel Bearings look the same on both sides. I'm assuming they can go in either way. I will reinstall Ring Gear out of the car. Thinking although it would be easy to reinstall the rear end myself without the Ring Gear in place, I think the axle needs to be in a nose down position to minimize chances of tearing the gasket.

Will start reinstall over the next few nights, will need to install new backing plates, and lengthen E-Brake Rods and likely re-bend brake pipes. Need to bleed clutch, brakes, new gas tank needs install and some fettling and I'll need to crawl in he boot once I'm back on 4 wheels to attach the Sender wire to the harness. other than that Bugsy IV should be ready to start his Spring 2017 adventures. I can't wait.

PS New Alternator from BPNW arrives tomorrow. Same case as the Generator so it looks period correct. They even make alternators with Tach Drives as well that look just like the Generator. Pretty cool and looks period correct.

Driving soon Bugsy, Driving Soon I promise. Car and Driver are chomping at the bit. View attachment 48494View attachment 48495

Unfortunately No, Is there something Specific you want to know?

I would like to see more pictures of what you have to work with. I am pretty sure this was the car off BAT or Barnyard Finds. At the time I was hoping someone on here was going to pick it up. I know what a solid car it was as listed. You are doing many of the things I have in front of me.

I am pulling the rear and axles out of my parts car to get a little better ratio 3.90. Trying to decide if I want to powder coat the rear or just paint it.

My car car from original owner in LA. Purchased new for his wife in '60 is how the story want. Purchased by a guy in Cleveland who put it in a storage locker for a year when I picked it up in July of last year. Car spent all of it's years in LA and garaged the whole time. No rust at all on the car period. RR fender was replaced and well done but I will be replacing boot floor before this one goes to paint. Trunk floor was straightened but in the area where bumper irons attach, panel is crooked so bumperettes would not stand up straight. I will replace and put car on retisserie to complete this job before final paint. Holes for bumper bolts were filled in. Will re drill and do it right.

Mods include conversion to front discs, 3/4 master, sway bar, all new shocks from Peter C, rebushed AArms. Sway bar. In rear later backing plates, uprated rear drums will go to Creative Spridget rear disc setup. Springs cleaned up and painted, new bushings, new radius arm brackets , downgrade to 3.9 rear.

Will drive ugly ugly for now on 8 spokes w polished rims from John Brown Wheels in UK. Moto Lits wheel, oh what a buy from Moss UK. 175/70/13 Wheels. New Red Interior w Speedhut Guages for GPS Speedo and Tach, new Red carpets and Top and Tonneau are color matched from BE Guy. New wiring harness w relays, front tilt kit from Gerard.

that will I'll get it on the road interior and dash refurb will be after I take Bugsy off he road for paint in the Fall. 1,326 and 5 speed GR starter and Alternator, refurbed Hardtop completes the package. Not cheap to build this way but np plans to ever sell Bugsy
