My youngest son (28) is <span style="font-weight: bold">terrified</span> of roaches. He screams like a girl and leaves the room. But I have seen him grab a baby ground rattle snake, live yet, and pop his head like a whip. Go figure.
 
I live among th' spiders out here inna garage. Spotted one yesaterday AM scootin' across th' keyboard.

Just to make you feel less terrified....many years ago
a Brown Recluse spider crawled under the bed sheets in the night
and bite the crap outta me. NASTY wound. ER and surgery the next
day. Ate a hole about the size of a quarter in my thigh.
To this day I like to check out under my sheets before I go to sleep.

I got bit by some kind of spider about 3-4 weeks ago. Woke up and my face felt warm and tight. Good news was I didn't have a wrinkle, however bad news was I looked like a puffer fish. Seems it bit me by my ear. I took benadryl and slowly the swelling went down. That night I pulled the covers down and there was a small brown spider. Husband Doug scooped it up in a glass bottle. I asked him to keep it in case I died during the night and an autopsy needed to be done. Wouldn't want him to go to jail for killing his wife.

I don't cotton to spiders either.
 
We've found spraying them with THIS 3M product keeps 'em immobile and they live to regret choosing to co-habitate with us here. :jester: :devilgrin:

Big brown "house spiders" seem to linger the longest... 'bout a week before they stop strugglin' 'n thrutchin' about. :smirk:

We occasionally see really big black hairy spiders. Supposedly they aren't harmful but a few weeks ago when I picked up a pile of wood and one jumped out in my direction I nearly had a coronary! UCK!

You got to watch for the black shiny ones. The ones that have the red hour glass on their underside. Hour glass or no, I don't turn them over until their lease on life has expired.

The only good arachnid is a dead arachnid 'round here.

Species determined via autopsy. :wink:

They're FINE outdoors. Inside th' perimeter, they live only at MY discretion. :smirk:
