I am rebuilding an OD switch and they have some de-bossed sections that are painted white and say overdrive- I remember a while back somebody posting and said, they painted the main body black, let it dry, and then painted the de-bossed area white and wiped it off quick and Walla . Does that sound correct?

Paint in the letters and wipe off and voila. Yup. I used correction fluid pen and it's still OK but I don't drive much.

I don't have an OD, but yes, that's what I did with my other switches. I didn't paint them black first, as they were OK the way they were. I used an acrylic paint and sorta smeared it in the recesses and then lightly wiped the excess off. If you don't fill it all in on one try, just wait for the white to dry and hit it again.
