DCOE HELP

1976Midget

So i got the Dual DCOE on the Midget They started right up. But here the Problem. i have one barrel that pooring gas out of it and one barrel in the other a Big Road inside Part came flying out.

Frist Question what is the Piece and why did it come out and is this a Bad thing. looking at the diagram i provide here the Part is number 17

https://www.redlineweber.com/html/Tech/40-45_dcoe_parts_breakdown.htm

Second Question why is the one barrel pooring gas.

third Question the carb are running at about 3500 RPM right of the bat. the linkage is fully up when foot is off the gas. i assume this is an adjustment issue.

fourth Question any suggest on a braket for the Throttle cable

pouring gas is probably a float height issue.

#17 may have come out if it wasn't seated? Maybe not an issue to re-install, but why did it come "flying out"? um, yikes?

also, you should be running 1.5-4 PSI of fuel pressure, preferably with a return line to the tank.

linkages - check out piercemanifold.com

From the picture you're describing the auxiliary venturi. Should be held in place by a lockscrew on the lower flank of the carb.

Time to pop them off again. Go over eachone, comparing them to each other. Something's radically not right. While you're comparing them. Use an airgun or can of compressed air(computer cleaner if nothing else) to blow through jets, emulsion tubes, fuel passageways, etc. Make sure your float levels are proper and that the float when lifted closes the needle and seat. Lightly blow through the fuel inlet while raising the float with your hand, holding the upper cover.
Make sure your throttle valves close completely, back off the idle set screws until they are not on the stops to verify closure of the valve plates, then turn the idle set screw 1 1/2 turn past contact for initial setting. Make sure your fuel pressur is under 3 psi. Make sure your fuel filter is clean.

i'll give it a whirl i am using a stock a Midget mechinal fuel pump. what psi does that produce. i guess i can get a fuel regulator

On any DCOE ~except~ 45's the auxiliary venturi are held in place with a small "barrel" spring attached to 'em. If one "flew" out, it sounds as if you haven't any retainers at the front of the units. parts #18~21 are what keep things IN the barrels. If you've no air horns, the backing plate for the air cleaners would be doing this job.

Excess fuel out one barrel MAY be float level, but they're both fed with the same bowl, so I'd be looking for a main jet or emulsion tube not seated in the leaking side circuit... the other thing to look at are the accelerator pump jet seats.

The mechanical pump shouldn't overpower the float needle/seat.

Which DCOE's are we talking here? I thought they were 38's or 40's.

the one barrel the venturi flew out of was one that the air horn was removed. that explain that. they are 38's

Ive decided i am going to sell the dcoe and go back DGV style. i should get enough out of the dcoes to buy a new dgv

Have you looked at Teglerizer's site. He has a pretty complete site, with lots of links.

Just do a google for Teglerizer.

I believe that once a Weber is dialed in, clean fuel introduced, driven regularly and your problems are a LOT less than a Stromberg or SU.

SU adjustments last for years and years. Nothing much to cause a problem as long as you check the dash pot oil from time to time.

I believe if you whack a weber with a sledge hammer, fill it with old paint and store it in salt water your problems are a lot less than with a Stromberg. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

You're entitled to your belief. That's what we enlisted and served for.

But I am entitled to disagree with you. AND I DO!!!

Zenith Strombergs don't even make good paperweights!. Simca,Mercedes.Brit mobiles. experienced on them a bit. And am so glad that they went away from them.

A weber is designed logically. And serves quite well. Plus a dialed in Weber sounds a lot healthier than a Stromberg.

The demand for Webers is such that when Weber quit making them for a while, they had to start building them again. Granted in a different country. But under Weber license.

Ron, I was agreeing with you. I just have a funny way of writing.

Mea Culpa, my initial perusal of your post got my ire going. I read it wrong. Sorry.

I especially agree with your statement about ZS carbs as paperweights. I have about 3 of them lying around my bench and every time I use one as a paperweight, all the carbon and grime built up from years of running too rich get all over my paper. It's totally frustrating.

How can I fit a set of DCOE's up to a five hole Benz diesel?!? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

Every car on the list has DCOE's except poor Diesela. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif
