The roads are so bad in Frederick County that they pulled the snowplows off of them.

John - did you ever get dug out? If not, I've got some more dyn-o-mite aviation pictures to send you.

Tom

He'd probably just rather have the dyn-o-mite right about now...:cz

Please send aviation photos!

I don't want to alarm you, but it's getting serious here.

On Tuesday, I got the cell number of a contractor with a front-end loader who removes snow. He was on his way to a driveway on Gambrill Mountain and would come by after he did that one.

Then the second storm hit. He called to say that he was having trouble getting off the mountain and might not make it. At about dusk, he called to say that he could come. By that time, we were in the middle of the storm and losing light so we put it off until after the snow stopped.

Well, the didn't stop until last night some time. No plow has been through my road. I will have to call him and find out if and when he can come.

The only thing that really worries me is that I am low on one of my meds. I cut down to one-third dose to stretch it, but I am feeling worse and should have the full dose.

If they plow the road, I might be able to get a friend to go to the pharmacy for me and he can park his truck in the road and walk through the snow to bring me the meds. Or throw them to me on the porch! But that has to wait until he can get out. He lives at the end of a long farm lane. His landlord has a big snowblower that goes on a tractor, though.

At least I have power!

Do they even ~have~ snow plows in Nawleans?!?!

.

Nope, but they have the best sanitation crew in the world!

The runnning joke here is the saints will go to/win the Super Bowl when h-ll freezes over......which would explain all this weather.

My buddy called yesterday from D.C and said he has almost four feet of global warming in his front yard.

We're s'posed to get 2"-4" which is unheard of. I hope we do !!!!

I'll have to fire up the dirt car.

Well, it's all over except the digging.

And the massive amount of melting snow on my roof that will no doubt melt into my house. Yikes!

We have a family tradition. When I was growing up in Vermont, we used to take one of our 4x4s (we had a'75 Land Cruiser and a '79 Bronco, among others) and see how far we could get them into our field during the middle of winter. We usually made it twenty to thirty feet on sheer momentum, and then, even though our rigs had good ground clearance, the sheer depth of Vermont snow would cause us to get hung up on the undercarriage. We'd then spend the afternoon digging out -- the preference was to get out under our own power, rather than pulling out the stuck vehicle with one of our other trucks.

Well, I've been eyeing the alley that runs from our street to behind our house, which is where our garage is located. There is a couple of doctors who live on the corner of the alley, and they always have someone plow the alley to their garage, so they can get out in and get to the hospital where they work. So, that gave me a good 20 foot running start into the alley.

Well, I took my Jeep Liberty out this morning, and I'm happy to report that I got another 20' into the alley before getting totally hung up!

I'm also happy to report that I got that baby out on my own, using some boards I always carry in the back in case I get myself stuck somewhere.

I LOVE the snow! Mwahahahahhahahaha

Baltimore allegedly has 85 total inches this year.
Old record 62.5" yearly.

That's almost two feet more than the record.

Gore-y.

If I had known this would happen, I would have rooted for the Indianapolis Professional Football Team, which is hard for a Maryland resident to do.

Twosheds, Keep me posted on your meds. I'll be prayin' for ya!

Good news: My driveway is plowed. $175 and $25 extra to shovel around my truck except for the top of the cap where he couldn't reach. Maryland police will ticket you for not removing all snow from the vehicle.

Bad news: The roads between my friend's house and Frederick, where the pharmacy is, are still closed.

75% of Frederick roads are closed. 37 cars were stranded last night. The drivers/passengers stayed in their cars. Two firetrucks were stranded. The firemen were rescued by snowmobile.

Probably get the meds tomorrow.

Thanks for the positive thoughts, Kellysguy.

John,Jesse,

I can't imagine getting hit like that.I hope things
go well for you guys.
What's next ......earthquakes in Chicago?

- Doug

John:

I don't know your situation, but at the pharmacy where I work we would help you get your meds. If you called ,we would find a way to get them to you, as a patient is the reason we are there.
I don't know if this could work for you, but I hope so.
And, I too, am praying for you.

Dave :savewave:

Thanks for the positive thoughts, guys. You don't know how much it means to me.

The pharmacy knows me on a first name basis and are very helpful. They don't deliver, and I'm sure they are swamped now. I don't know if their parking lot is clear. Where are they going to put all this snow?

In good conditions, I am 15 minutes from The Golden Mile, where the pharmacy is.

But the conditions are far from good today.

I have one dose left so tomorrow should be O.K.

I live 15 minutes west down US 40 or I-70.

My friend lives west off of Rt. 340, which is closed.

So west of the spur after leaving Fredrick?
Drive that way when coming or going to my friends house in Waterford VA to my mother in laws house by Fort Detrick

I-270 spur? Yes, west of Frederick on I-70. Or Rt 40 if you're a shunpike like me.

Power was off in our house in Front Royal Virginia from Saturday through Wednesday. Made our way out there tonight and all the plumbing survived. Big smiles here.
