There's probably already a thread here somewhere about this, but just in case ...

Fall begins tomorrow (Sunday, 23 September). Here in New England there are some fantastic day trips on our wonderful two lane blacktops. All between 45 and 55mph.

Here's one I enjoy:

From Windham Connecticut, take Rt 32 north.

Follow Rt 32 to Ware, Massachusetts.

Rt 9 west to US 202 north.

Drive along Quabbin Reservoir (beautiful!) to Rt 122 in North New Salem.

Rt 122 east to Petersham.

Rt 32A south back to Ware.

Rt 9 east from Ware to Rt 49 south to Sturbridge.

Rt 20 west from Sturbridge to Rt 19 south.

Rt 19 south to Rt 32 south and back to Windham.

All in Connecticut's "Quiet Corner" and Massachusetts' "Pioneer Valley". And keep your eyes open for local cider mills, farm stands, and ice cream shops.

So what are some of your favorite area drives?

/bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/iagree.gif Used to live in Barre, MA and often went to the Quabbin and also Gate 38 (Hardwick) to go 'pickin' - mostly nuts for decoration along with driftwood, etc. - all for crafting. The only time I miss New England is in the Fall. I was there about 3 weeks ago and was mostly in Northern New Hampshire where the leaves were already beginning to turn. You make me 'homesick.'

So for all you in the area, Nutmeg is absolutely correct, this is a wonderful fall folliage tour. So get in your LBC and enjoy!

I love going down the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia and North Carolina when the leaves are turning. Hope to get out there in October.

1. The drive through Glacier Park,Montana.
2.The drive down Avenue of the Giants (giant -
- Redwood trees)on alt.Hwy 101 in No.Calif.
3.The drive from Denver to Grand Junction,Co.,
on Interstate 80 (especially the Glenwood Canyon).
4.The road through the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee.
5.The Trans-Canada Highway.
