David E. Davis has died

I understood that he thought that he was the best journalist
out there.Car&Driver was a good magazine in the '60's,when he was at
the helm.
I met him while he was running the California Mille a few years
back.

David E was a character. I have to say I enjoyed most (but not all) of his writing.

I actually started reading Sports Car Illustrated (which turned into Car & Driver).

Back in the 60s and 70s, C&D was a neat magazine, with Jean Shepard, Warren Weith, Dick Smothers, Gordon Jennings, PJ O'Rourke and of course, Brock Yates.

It was an interesting magazine.

These days, it's only fit for use at the bottom of a bird cage.

By the way, I'm guessing many of you know that these days, Brock Yates writes a column in Vintage Motorsports magazine.
In a recent column, he announced that he has Alzheimer's disease and would probably not be able to continue much longer. :frown:

He was indeed a character, I enjoyed reading his stuff, even
when I just shuck my head...
Sorry to hear......

WOW! Bet that hurt!

*GROAN*

And S.C.I. was a good pub. Not so much after it became C&D.

Sad to think that C&D,& Motor Trend aren't worth the paper that
they're printed on.I throw the subscription "specials" into the recycle-
bin.
I'm sure they will go away - but they deserve to.
