Datsun Help Please

I finally got a hold of the guy with the Datsun. It's a 1971 PL520 truck. I could have sworn that he said car.

Those trucks aren't bad either... as long as you only want to haul 1 or 2 small engines in the bed - hehehehehe

Have you guys ever noticed the similarities between an MG & an Alfa - look at Kenny's photo

headlight/fender setup,
crease along length of body (trim line),
wheel well shapes

My brother had a 520.I thought it'd be cool to go pick up
the pieces for the Elan I bought.
After getting in,I remembered how little leg room there is in the small trucks. You drive with your knees in your chest (well, almost).

I had a Chevy LUV once - loved that truck...you couldn't kill it!

Hard to kill a good Datsun too. My grandad had one of the first "king-cab" Datsun (by nissan) trucks. He gave that poor thing heck and drove it for 2 decades. I think my dad's favorite truck was a Nissan 4x4 he had for about 7-8 years. He even turned down offers by the dealer to buy it back! Must've been a good truck - I've never heard of a dealer wanting to buy anything back!

I was going to buy a King Cab in 1977 - until I found out
that it had drum brakes on the front.Bought a Toyota SR5 -
- Longbed, instead.More slid than the Datsun.
I bought one identicle to it 25 years later in Washington. After comparing ID numbers,I noticed that were 1 number apart from each other!

Just happened to notice this post from a while back - there is a website www.nwde.org , click on "forum" then "enter here" - devoted to Datsun cars and trucks, with most of the posts (80% or so) devoted to trucks. Most of the members seem to be in the northwest - Washington/Oregon - although I did find a local So Cal buyer on the site for my 1972-1/2 PL620, which I had owned since new and was so sad to part with, even though it wasn't running. Lucky for me, the buyer was looking for an example to restore to original, was really excited to find one in such good condition, and promised to keep me informed of it's progress. Funny thing, even with the difference in value, I was as fond of that truck as I am of my Healey!

Anyway, it looks like a pretty good site - well managed, and well mannered.

Nice looking truck, I almost bought one that looked just like it, and was that high without being on a flatbed... My dad said "you don't want it" when the guy said it needed wheel bearings. (it was 4x4 of course)

Those old Datsuns are neat trucks
