Datsun 210 tranny....ventilation or missing screw?

I noticed on my 210 tranny that there is either a missing screw, or a ventilation hole. Anyone have any ideas?

Is a vent. There's supposed to be a small right-angled tube stuck in the hole. Since the vent tube fouls on the heater box when lowering into a Spridget, I've always removed mine and placed a pellet of coarse steel wool in the hole.
