Spotted a pristine metallic blue 510 east bound on the 91 freeway today. Looked like it was fresh out of a resto shop.

It had tail lights I had never seen before. JDM conversion perhaps?

I had one of those bought new back in 1969. It rusted badly but the only thing I ever replaced was a pinion bearing in the rear end. Knockoff of a BMW. I autocrossed it without much success. I kept going off the track through the pylons. They never let you make a slow run through first. Today in California, they're going for big bucks.

I had a 71" 510 and loved that car. Someone drove through the back end at a stoplight. Shortened the car by about a foot.

Bought my 69 new and loved it for over 300K miles without one issue.
Never babied it and drove it like I stole it.
My wife got it in the divorce settlement.

I learnt to drive in a yellow 610 station wagon. It was known around town as the “Yellow Submarine”. Some happy memories!
