Dashboard Knob Removal

Colleagues,
I am preparing my BE for new paint to be accomplished soon I hope. Yesterday involved removing the dash, it came off reasonably well however, I could not remove a couple of knobs wiper and another that had a small 'rivet' in the stem seemingly as a set screw?
It is not a screw with slot for screw driver but seems to be press fit piece of metal with flat surface. I tried to gently unscrew the knob thinking it might be threaded on the cable to no avail. I removed the dash with these knobs and their respective wires in situ, pulling them through the firewall.
Any suggestions would be welcomed.
BTW, very cool to read the yellow crayon build notes on inside of dash, they complement the blue crayon notes discovered underneath the Hardarth original mat in the boot.

push on the metal pin. The knob will pull right off.
