Dashboard Finish

My TR4 dash was replaced by the previous owner and has never been finished, only oiled. It's teak and looks great but I was wondering if there was a finish I could apply with the dash in place for a satin finish. I don't mind oiling it up from time to time but it does dry out and doesn't look quite as nice until lubed up again.

Teak has a natural oil that would make me hesitate to put other finishes on it. A good place to look would be a boating web site as teak is often used there and finishes used there ought to be good enough to survive even in a Triumph interior.

That said a friend installed a solid teak dash and then used a Tung Oil finish on it. These are not really tung oil, just Tung Oil like. (most of what you buy in the usual stores are this).
It is a satin finish and after 6 months seems to be ok.

My dash is solid teak. I use teak furniture oil
every month or so.

I was going to suggest Tung Oil and then saw that Norton had already done so. I have used it on various items and it lasts really well. I have even put it on my kitchen table now and it has survived all that my two kids can throw at it!
The more you oil the wood the glossier it gets.
I believe that Danish Oil contains Tung Oil and Danish Oil is used over here to water-proof wooden kitchen worktops.
