Just in case anyone wondered why the windshield had to come out to properly install these, this is the new pad, with the molded area that the windshield frame will sit on.

Yes Tom, as far as I know. Anything shorter or longer will be a problem in one way or another.
 
Makes me want to yank my windshield. :laugh:
 
Paul, are you concerned about re-torquing your windscreen frame back down and cracking your glass?
 
I guess that I wasn't. Should I be?

It will be the same procedure as used here when the new glass was installed about a 16 months ago, after repainting the frame.

I guess we'll see what happens. Too late to go back now.

Actually, I'm probably more annoyed that the door glasses and top will all have to be realigned once again, AFTER the frame is set back in place. Notice the door trim panels are not back on yet?
 
Note the 3M adhesive in the bottom right of the bottom pic? That will go under the pad as soon as the frame is ready to go back on.
 
No, they're only a pain if you can't get the bolts through the pillars loose, or if the frame is rusted to the cowl, or if the weatherstrip won't break loose.

Other than that, they're pretty easy to work with.

Or did you mean the glass???
 
No I meant pretty much the whole process. I didn't see any mention of voodoo or special chants that seem necessary when changing out the B unit, so it seemed like it will be easier, but asking is always better than ASSuming.

Paul did you have any problems getting out or putting in the 3 bolts for the tonneau.

When I did mine I ended up spending lots of time on those little suckers!
 
No Bill, not even last year, which was the first time ever that they were removed.
 
maybe I was having trouble cuz they didnt line up perfectly the 1st time, but I got them in without stripping them....finally!

I guess I was lucky too.........my windshield frame came out and went back in with no problems. Now I'm always reading about how difficult a time people have with it. I'm glad I was too dumb to know better back then or I might have farmed the job out rather then doing it myself. I guess the good part about the Internet and the various forums and mail lists is that there's lots of information out there.......... and the bad part is that there's lots of information out there :sick:
 
Many thanks to Kodanja. I had to call him last night after 6:00PM, knowing full well he would be cruising in his TR6 on a nice evening, to ask about the proper position of the three triangular windshield hold downs. Yes, there is an up and down and I couldn't remember, so I thought I would call Bill from the body shop to ask him.

Allan was amazed that I had an answer so fast. That's what good friends and this forum are for.

Just for the record Bob, you were next in my speed dial if Bill didn't answer.
 
OK Paul & Bill........... and the correct position is? As I tip toe out to my car to check.
