Dash Lights

I recently converted my BJ8 to negative earth and changed the dynamo for an alternator so I can run QI headlights and some driving lights. So far so good. I am now trying to brighten up the dash lights so ordered and today received and fitted some E10 LEDs. What I hadn't realised is that the light is axis sensitive, from the side they give out very little light. In the ignition light socket for example, if you turn the lampholder several degrees to either side of optimum, it almost looks as if the lamp is out. Is there an E10 LED available somewhere which outputs light over a wider angle? Or is the only solution several bulbs in each instrument.
