Dash light rheostat questions

I'm installing new aftermarket gauges including a voltmeter and oil pressure gauge and also installing switches that are self illuminated. Will the rheostat:
1. Work at all with this arrangement?
2. If so will it handle additional load of 4-5 more lights?
3. Should I rewire completely and change to a heavy duty 12V dimmer?

As part of this work I plan to change to a mini 12 circuit fuse panel so additional circuit(s) if needed are available.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks,
Bud

I disconnected mine from the rheostat after someone one this board rhetorically asked if I was ever going to dim the lights. they are brighter. I did fuse them though

My suggestion is you send us lots of pictures.

Also, if you are changing everything else out, why keep the crappy old worn out dimmer, anyway?

Yes. The OEM rheostat is a good quality piece. It will have no problem running extra gauges, in my case 3 more over OEM.
