Dash up-date....Gaston

I was one of the people that sent Gaston my TR6 dash many months ago. Well after some health issues, he was true to his word and I received a entirely new TR6 dash. I must admit it is very nice and the finish is quite flawless. I think he said it has 15 coats of lacquer on it and it looks the part.

Just thought I would share, for those considering or waiting to get their dash back.

He said he has a guy helping him out so turn around time should be vastly improved.

A few pictures of the dash and my restored guages.

Re: Dash up-date....Gaston

I'm happy to see that you got your dash back, as promised and just as happy to see that he is able to work again, even if it is with a helper.

Re: Dash up-date....Gaston

That looks like cherry wood. If it is, in about six months or so, it will look even better then it does now. It will develope a gorgeous patina. It's one of my favorite woods.

Re: Dash up-date....Gaston

I also got my dash from Gaston, and It is beautiful.............. Can't wait to get it in. Mine is also Cherry

Mmmmm Spicy Chili beans! I'm starting to feel hungry. The dash looks exquisite. Good job with the gauges too!

Re: Dash up-date....Gaston

Glad to see the dashes are showing up. I was waiting for one piece for my Stag dash and it showed up last week. Hopefully he remains healthy. He really does do nice work.
All three of my dashes were done in cherry and I'm looking forward to them getting an even richer look. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

Re: Dash up-date....Gaston

Hey, I just noticed how nice your gauges look! Did you do those or did you send them out for refinishing?

Re: Dash up-date....Gaston

The gauges weren't in bad shape to begin with, but the bezels were flaking and had some rust. I took them apart stripped and sanded the bezels, then repainted them with a semi gloss paint. The guage faces were cleaned/restored with endust or armor all. I also cleaned and greased the internals. I am afraid the budget wouldn't allow for them to be sent out. All said and done it took me a couple of days.

Re: Dash up-date....Gaston

I don't want to send mine out either. After the charity shows are all done this month, out mine will come and I'll start the cleanup project.
