Dash Install questions

Looks Good Dale. Keep up the good work, But unless you want to win Trophies don't worry about perfection. It's all in the Drive.
( but of course I suppose you have plenty of time to work on it for the next few months ).

Looks Great Dale, and a useful reference thread for doing mine over the winter. I am using a similar colour leather Martrim Matador Red I noticed my dashboard doesn't have any cut out or feature for heater controls ( which isn't a worry a I don't have a real heater just a coil and blower under the dash) Just wondered why my dash BN4 Longbridge 100/6 would be like that. I'm going to fit a period dashboard indicator switch and horn buttons t do away with the column wiring etc too.

I found dash bulbs! Seems crazy to some folks but I live in Nowhere NY. I have to order stuff. Installed the bulbs last night and nothing worked. I tried everything. Went back to the wiring diagram...forgot about that dash light switch out of sight under the dash. I don't know about you guys but for me out of sight out of mind.

I used incandescent bulbs but slightly higher 2.7 watts. Should be OK, right?

When I rewired my BJ7 I eliminated the small hidden dash light switch. It certainly comes from another era and in my opinion is absolutely useless. 2.7 watt bulb on 12 volts will pull .225 amps.

Hi Chaps,

New to BCF, Not sure what the protocol is but I will chip in anyway. I am restoring a BT7 and whilst fitting the dash found it has no side fittings to attach the dash to. Where are these fitted. What should these look like and how is the dash attached to these. Grateful for any info.

Welcome to the forum Noddy. Ya don't have to worry about protocol much as long as you are relatively polite.
I've found that the bunch on this forum don't trash each other, they just work together.
I will reattach a pic of the side pieces that hold the dash in place. I believe the only other point where the dash is fixed is a single screw with back brace which is near the center of the dash face but not exactly centered.

Noddy,
The parts you need can come from Kilmartin - AH295L and AH295R. They are in Australia and British Car Specialists in California offer the line.

Hi Jedi warrior,

Many thanks for part numbers. I live in Uk but believe or not parts are easier to come by in the US. I didn’t have the part number. I will try again.
I am also travelling to Australia in 2weeks and know a few Healey owners out there. So I now have 3 options. Again many thanks
Noddy

Noddy, do you ever use AHspares in the UK? It seems like they are closest to you.

If you don't find a part on their web site then call them.

Dale
