Dash Cracking....

The dash overlay on my 75 has started to crack. It was a very slight surface crack a week ago, now it's about 1.5" long and growing. I'd like to at least stop it from getting larger and ideally find a way to repair it for cheap (instead of purchasing a replacement). This is a pretty common problem with many cars here in the new mexico heat...anyone have any advice on how to cure it?

Once they start cracking, there is not way to stop it or to repair it. You really have only options. 1. Live with it. 2. replace the dash. 3. Get a dah overlay. This is a plastic piece, matching the grain of the original, taht fits over the top.
 
I used a guy who specializes in fixing repairing dashes at many of ther local used car lots you could not tell that ithad been repaired it lasted a few years but ended up putting on a dash overlay next is a new dash
 
My 74B came with a dash cover. The color and texture match, but if you look closely you can see where the cover meets the original dash. They only cost about $50 and come with some adhesive. You could probably order one and see how it looks before gluing it in. A dash cover would be cheaper and less hassle than replacing the whole dash.

I lived in El Paso, TX for 3 years (and I own a place in Ruidoso, NM). The only "cure" for it is to keep the heat from building up in the vehicle (ie - windows open), and to keep the dash covered or shielded from the sun.
