I had already discovered a nest when I was poking around under the dash of the TR8. Got the shop vac out and cleaned it all up. Yesterday I pulled the dash so I could get to the heater/AC unit and have it checked out. Didn't notice until this morning, but there was a "victim" just under the windshield, in a channel that runs the length of the dash where it meets the windshield. Don't know how long it's been there, but it was nothing but some fur, a tail, and whiskers.

Reckon that was what that yucky smell was?

think he got the hint. He left, I plugged up the last holes in the firewall, vacuumed out the seats and floors one last time and then put pepermint oil down on the carpets. This is in addition to the mothballs in bags under the seats.
Left it overnight and there was no indication this morning that he had returned.
