Shocks.
MK2 Jag.

C20989B front shocks
C20990B rear shocks

David Manners has Monroes, fronts C20989M*P6, whatever that nomenclature means, but you cannot get Monroe to admit they make that shock.
With shipping out of the usual suppliers, about 250 for all 4, which is more than I want to spend.

Any ideas on better, US-based source, cheaper?

$100. for 4 shocks is what I would spend. Koni, Bilstein, KYB (Kills Your Back), are for the young kids, Boge shocks don't last, SPAX would be nice but way too expensive and not sold in the USA.

when new, these cars came with morq shocks (middle-of-the-road-quality), so don't sweat it, buy the cheapest Gabriels or Monroes you can get. I remember Sears had decent inexpensive shocks back in the 1970's, maybe made by Monroe?
 
Except...there is no Monroe or Gabriel listing.
No cross reference.
 
Used to get SPAX from XKs. I have KONIs on MK1 with 5 way adjustments, can go soft to hard, Have on 3 and still run smooth.

With shipping, over six hundred bucks for 4 shocks!
 
Betcha wouldn't have to buy anymore for the rest of your life!! My KONIs are now 38 yrs. old and are like new. Replaced original shocks at 49,000 mi. and 18 yrs. old.
 
Haven't found a KONI listing yet. My shocks are oh-ridge-in-all. 50 years old, one finally let go.
I just can't see that much coinage for shocks.

I did find, oddly, one UK supplier, listed 42 pounds for each front shock, 40 pounds for each front spring. First time I recall seeing springs cheaper than shocks!

Well all: here is what we have done for ages: Courtesy of EXOTEXAS:

Take one old front shock and one rear and match them at the store for size and mountings.

This probably accounts for the fact that certain dealers may carry some that fit but the Manufacturer has no clue and no cross reference.
