General TR Damaged Front Engine Cover Spigot

Please look at this picture. What happened to the spigot? Its all shaved down in the forward 1.5 inches. Is that anywhere near normal or expected?

Not certain, but I suspect that is the evidence of a long front cover fitting in combination with a diaphragm clutch. Is perhaps your gearbox from a TR4 instead of 4A ? Are the tips of the diaphragm fingers also chewed up?
 
Also...I take it you removed your throw out bearing without removing the clutch fork? I've never been able to do that, as my forks have been to tight in the throw out bearing, so the bearing had to come out with the fork.

The answer to your question is definitely, "no", that is not normal.
 
I'll check. Looks like I can just order the correct spigot if that's the issue.
