Dale's not the only one who paints parts

You should have the head professionally checked for straitness and flatness and even just a skim cut done for preventive maintainance. I would always have a machine shop do the guides and cook it out while it's there. You can never get one as clean internally as their tanks get them after they take all of the plugs out of the oil and coolant galleys.

I had all new seats installed as well while it was there and new intake and SS exhaust valves lapped in properly. Without a good commercial grinder and the proper angle stones, you just can't get them right. It just wasn't worth it to skimp at that point in time.
