Daimler SP250 restoration

LOL - no probs. I had a nice drive around town in one, V8 sounds echoing off the walls of the narrow streets.

Just read through most of this, was looking for an SP250 when I got my TR250, must be hung up on 250 or 2.5 liters or something.

The car is not exactly beautiful, but it is certainly unique and exudes period charm, and I just love the little screaming v-8, they were killer SCCA racers back in the day, and they rapidly moved them up a couple clasees in production racing in the early sixties.

I had my sights on a project for $5000 down in the southeast a couple years back, but didn't pounce fast enough.

This is excruciating!

But it's getting closer...

I'm waiting on parts to come back from rechroming. In the meantime, the interior is going in.

Heh, no idea. This is what happens when you don't do your own work.

I'll let you know when it arrives - or I pick it up. Not sure how this is going to work out - or when it will be done yet.

I'm not pinning my hood/bonnet down.

I think that Bryan Purves has a chain attachment that will keep the hood down, but I don't want to add anything more than that, which would be visibly non-standard to an otherwise pretty much stock car.

I would love to see the chain attachment. Will it be strong enough if the wind gets under it?

Edit...sorry highjacked your thread I thought it was your SP with the chain attachment.. Apologies.

This is from his website.

I imagine it's strong enough - I haven't heard any complaints from other owners.

HOLY Magnificent cleanliness and attention to detail Batman!
That's one sharp lookin' car!

Fun stuff, James!

It was supposed to be this summer. There's very little left to do on it, and they said they were working "hammer and tongs on it". There's probably 2-4 weeks' work.

But since April, all that's happened is a steering wheel went on it.

My mistake, looking back at my records, I see that it was February, rather than April.

Actually, this gives me some time to pay down the debt the car's incurring...
