Daimler/Jag 420 Limo

Looked at a 1986 Daimler DS420 Limo today. One owner, 6200 miles. Blue top/gray bottom. Garage kept. Would you believe it was eaten up by the tinworm. Otherwise, interior and chrome was very good. All four doors had the cancer in corners. I did a little checking before I looked at it. Websites said it was a rust prone car. Howard Hughes and the Queen of England both had one. Drove it about a half mile and it started slowing down, I noticed the miss when I cranked it up. Figured I better return it quickly. I got it back and it died, not to crank again. I feel like the points were going, I didn't ask how old the gas was. What a shame. Don't know what I would have done with it but it would be fun to tour around with.

I have a 76 in here now for an engine swap. It is a car I worked on 20 plus years ago. My customer bought it at auction recently, but improper storage seized the engine. This one is a 76, so 2 inch SUs w/ manual choke. Kinda odd. The old bus is still in pretty good shape though, although I have not had it on the lift yet. More as things develop.

The 86 has 2" SU's on it as well, manual choke. From a website I found, they said most of them had the SU's. They were a little different from the XKE but didn't see any big deal about them. I am still thinking about the car but I know I need to "run Forrest run".
