DAIMLER Double Decker BUS

Man, it seems like its not only raining lots of water on me - but its also raining Daimlers on me!!

I need a Gardner 6 cylinder (straight 6) diesel engine for a '65 Daimler double decker bus!!

Doesn't matter whether I have to import it from the UK or Canada or wherever....any of you Daimler guys know in which direction I need to go?

But they haven't answered my telephone calls & their site is real basic with no way to contact them other than by phone!

I would think that almost any commercial truck engine should fit in okay (with a little research into what might work)

I know of one collector in southern Ontario who has a 1949 Austin K8 commercial truck, I do know that he runs the truck with a newer diesel engine, not sure if he's the one who installed it or the previous owner.

Just my two cents...

Give unitrans a call https://unitrans.ucdavis.edu/about/. They operate a fleet of buses at UC Davis (Go Aggies!) someone in the maintance department should be able to help.

UPDATE: Owner wants to keep it original if possible (though he has looked into Detroits)...Gardner & I are finally talking & I've just sent them all the numbers they're looking for.

In addition to ompiling a pretty good cros-over list of parts numbers for the SP250, I may soon be importing a Gardner engine from the UK for the Daimler bus! (Gotta take photos next time I'm down there)

I will - funny, as the new owner has judiciously gone through each system, I've found everything he needed at Moss (we just had to figure out how to cross over parts #'s & I've gotta give kudo's to Britt, my Moss guy): caliper pistons/rebuild kits & other brake items like wheel cylinder rebuild kits, MC rebuild kits, carb rebuild kits, hood & trunk hinges & some others I probably forgot to list...car should be up & running when a backordered Grose jet arrives!

Went by the bus again today to get some additional info for Gardner - & found the big one-piece windshield for it in Atlanta...here are some photos...see if you can find the hole in the block in the photo of the engine...

Huge hole, ain't it?

Reconditioned long block - 4000ÂŁ plus freight from the UK or they can provide an engine the owner can rebuild himself...hmmmm, which option would I choose for such a rare animal - in the US? hehehehe
