Aloha All,

I am repairing the head on my TF and want to know if the raised numbers (22952) cast into the head are a part number or a serial number. The engine is an XPAG 1250, serial # 34496, however the head is from an earlier TD, identified because it used the diameter valves. The last time I had the head off I replaced the valves with the larger TF ones with stellite face. Thanks.

Safety Fast,
Dave

Aloha Jeff,

That sight is a great reference to all MG engines since 1935, thank you for the link. I have determined I have a bodged engine that looks like a TF 1250 XPAG engine externally (except for the cylinder head casting number. The head I have is a TD head that uses 1/2 inch reach spark plugs. I've been using the wrong type, 3/4 inch reach for over 30 years now. I'll have to read more of the book to see what else is not original.

Safety Fast,
Dave

Glad I could help, Dave.
That reference is invaluable if you are serious at all about originality, or just trying to figure out what you have.
Jeff
