Cylinder Head Depth

(A follow up to my current Gasket & Block Problem post
Have a MGB cylinder head which has been resurfaced, I would like to know how much metal has been removed.

Present height is Front RH & LH 55.26mm / 2.1756"
Rear RH & LH 55.34mm / 2.1787" (.08mm/.003" taper)

Questions are (1)How much has the depth been reduced.(2) Limit before compression ratio becomes a broblem, used as a normal car not a sports. (3)Any effect on valve gear operation ? Have read somewhere about shims under valve rocker pedestals, none fitted at present. No mention in Leyland MGB manual. (4) Engine number 18GBUH17955.
Thank you

I've made a boo boo
Borrowed a surface plate to sit the head on and vernier height gauge for the readings, BUT did not allow for the 25mm mounting base on the vernier. The readings look wrong.

Corrected readings are Front 80.26mm / 3.1598"
Rear 80.34mm / 3.1629" Av = 80.3mm / 3.1613"
An American source gives the folowing for head height
3 11/64" +.015" -.000" Taking 3 11/64 as 3.1718" and subtract my 3.1613" this gives .0105" say 10 thou off the head This makes sense.

Hallo,
I saw your head topic on Yahoo so joined the group. I am in South Australia and have a B that pinks like heck and the timing has to be backed off a lot more than I think is right. I wondered if my head had also had a close shave, so did you get the matter sorted?
Many thanks, Mike Osborne
