Curious....

Like Gerry, I found the title "newbie" below my name to be a bit off putting. I have been playing with MGs since 1959, so I am anything but a newbie (at least in age). I don't know when that designation will drop from my posts because if the question has been answered by someone else, I generally don't add my comments or opinion unless there is something significant to add. Since more of my time is spent restoring fuel pumps than I ever really intended, my time on the BCF is greatly limited and questions are usually answered by the time I read them, so I may be designated a newbie for the remainder of the time I come to the BCF. I figured that I coud either ignore the title or quite coming to the forum, I chose the former and it no longer bothers me.
Cheers

6000 members? Man, it seems like just a short time ago when Chuck Cougill came to me asking that I visit and join the BCF because you were trying to reach 1500 by the year's end! The mere fact that there are 6000 members means that you are doing everything right! My congrats, Basil!

Thanks, it wasn't easy building it to this point, especially in the early days. It took a year just to get the first 500 members and that was with me beating every bush I could find. Initially, if BCF showed up at all on Google it was on page 200 of a search. Now, the ranking is much better and its not unusual to have the BCF at the very top or at least the first page of many searches for British car related stuff. That has helped a lot! Plus members like Tony B and Reid Trummel (and many others) have done a good job dragging their many many friends on here, so it has finally started growing the way I had always hoped it would.

I know I don't aways do everything right, but I like to think we strive for continual improvement and not let things get stale.

Cheers,
Basil /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

Take a look under your name - it already has changed and you're not that far from the next level of senior member. Even I, who own the place, was a newbie for a time (albiet a very short time /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif )

Here's the FAQ on these title: Forum Titles

And remember, they don't mean anything in reality, its just for fun.
