Kind of a trivial question, but my wife wants cup holders in my bugeye. Do any of you have cup holders that are permanent, and if so, where did you install them? Any suggestions are grealy appreciated.

Kevin,
Depending on how bowed out your door panels are you could conceivably put one (coke can size) inside there, but if not enough room I would get the marine clip on style and clip it to the same panel depending on leg room.

I was thinking the same thing, where are the cup holders, place to put the garage door remote, sunglasses, etc?
I've been thinking of a caddy which would sit on the transmission tunnel in front of the gear changer. It would have some lips to extend over the side to hold it in place. Maybe room for two cupholders and another open area for all the other junk? Just need a female form and it can be vacuum molded out of black ABS and then trimmed.
What do you think?

I had one in my TR4 years ago and it was a 'sandbag' style. It fit over the transmission hump and had 2 cup holders on top. Might be too big for a bugeye. Another thought is to clip one to the grab handle.

A nice VW cup holder was discussed in the Healey Forum BCF Healey Forum
This car has lots of nice upgrades.

"Confucius say: wife IS cup-holder."

Oh gesh, wish I had said that.

Keep in mind that Confucius divorced at 23 and never remarried.

I saw a great cup holder at the Blount British car show in Townsend a couple of years ago. The guy had a roll of duct tape sitting on the tunnel with a beverage placed in the center of the roll. Cheap but effective.

Ray, I agree that is a very effective and "cheap" cup holder. When us guys are driving around that is just a great idea, along with all the other stuff us guys do when driving around. But remember, Kevin's WIFE wanted the cupholder, so I don't think the roll of ducktape is going to cut it. Anyway, where is Kevin going to put his cup? The women that I know, for some unknown reason, tend to like the nicer thinks, like lace and soft cloth, and stuff. I think it is back to the drawing board on this one!

It's a slippery slope... next there'll be: "Where do I plug in my 'phone charger?"

Then: "Where are the keys for the Sprite? I want to take it and go shopping."

*sheesh*

Too late, i can plug in the cell phone and the GPS. No cup holder though.

Wife doesn't really want to hear my problems - just wants a cup holder. My wife says not drilled holes, so I think I am going with the sandbag on the tunnel idea. Thanks for all the ideas. I think I may use some of them on my TR6.

I kind of like the slide out from under the dash trick.

In the old days, we had these metal horseshoe-shaped thingies with an angle at the closed end.....dipped in that latex stuff you can use on tool handles....just use a couple of big sheet metal screws and run them into the dash or cowl, and presto! Custom-fit cup holders!

If that fails, go to RePC, a couple of outlets in the Greater Seattle Area, get a couple of old CD players from their salvaged computer towers, mount then under the dash after hogging them out a bit...press the button, slides out, cupholders! Press the button again, no cupholder!
