Crypty's floor progress

Now you really went and got me in hot water Shawn!!
Implying Crypty isn't a "pretty Car" is going to make
him angry! Now he'll do something bad and act out.

Here's a morning update:

Final power wire brush, final steel wool, final vacuum
and final cleaning with xylene.

Installed 1" widths of painter's tape where I want metal
to metal adhesive bonding. The pop rivets will carry some
adhesive downward and then self waterproof when they're
pulled and expanded upward.

Two coats of rust inhibitor compound and now wait 24 hours
for a good cure. I'll probably install the new Team Crypty
floor pan tomorrow. No blue ribbon show floor but strong
and reliable.

Gonna be driving Crypty REAL SOON! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/driving.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cowboy.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/lol.gif

Dale- Do you need to add a captive nut for 1 seat anchor?

Dale,
You should tell Wendy to tidy up her side of the car. That is a terrible state she has left it in!

Dale,

I LIKE your attitude on this repair.

Many times we over-analyize the repairs that our cars need. Sometimes, when budget or time constraints dictate something other than a 'concours' repair, we 'freeze' and refuse to believe a lesser repair will be just as satisfactory.

I certainly wouldn't hesitate to do what you are doing in order to be able to drive a nice TR...

Excellent work. They're meant to be driven & enjoyed, relly appreciate the way you document everything. It makes it so much easier for the rest of us! Add "teacher" to your list of credentials.

Thanks Scott, Greatly appreciated.

I know just about zilch about TR mechanical
things and other kinds folks have to help me
out of problems all the time.

I AM kinda good at refurbishing things. I hope
my many photos and verbose text on refurbishng
things, serves as my contrubution to this really
grand old car forum.

I intend to post a detailed, start to finish
tech article with step by step photos and text on
how to repair holes in floor pans without taking
the inside of the car apart.

For cryin' out loud, Dale. You still messin' with them floor pans? I thought you'd be fishin' by now!

Hey Paul,

I just hate it when you do that!
Ya called Wendy didn't ya? And I'll bet
she squealed on me playing hooky this afternoon
to get in a little fishin'.

Just docked about 45 minutes ago. Snook fishin'.
But I did get in 2 hours on Crypty before sunrise
today and worked 5 hours for $$.

What a guy!!!!!!

Crypty and fishin' too. All in one day.

Someday you can take Crypty to meet Mr. Boat. Just don't let them get too close together. I don't want to hear that you're putting a floor in the boat next week......

Nope Paul, I bought the boat new and had it customized
to my specifications with top-of-the-line local
craftsmen.. I did not purchase it from pedro!!

Well!

The interior of Crypty is now rust free
and two coats of 2 part acrylic urethane
rust proofing laid down. New body to frame
mounts installed as well.

Now. I'll let the coatings cure until Friday and
then install the new driver's side floor pan.
Followed by installing the new carpet.

I'm shooting to have Crypty fully up and operational
and driving to the beach by Sunday lunch!

regards,

d

Glad to see that Wendy finally cleaned her side up...

Crypty's seat rails arrived today and I installed
the driver's pair while the rust proofing compound
is curing.

Dale,

They go on top of the carpet, with the spacers between the rail and the floor pan. Or, are you planning to cut the carpet around them? You might end up with a lot of curling in that case unless you glue them down and that's a no-no.
