Crypt Car Night Trip

The Crypt Car has never been driven at night
due to lack of an electrical system and being
stone cold dead for the past 15 months during
a serious effort restoration by owner and Team BCF.

Since Crypty has been operational now about 2 weeks,
Wendy and I loaded the trunk with emergency repair
gear and headed down the beach highway at dusk to
check out the entire car rewire system and lights.

All lights including high beams and dash functional.

We pulled off into a local biker bar for a tall cold one.
Being an ex-biker myself, the bikers all gathered around
Crypty and wanted the hood popped to view the engine.
Great bunch of guys and gals who can appreciate the effort
that went into getting Crypty operational.

An all time new record for the Crypt Car was set today.
1/4 tank of gasoline consumed without a breakdown or
call to the towing service. No raging inferno from flooded carbs, no popped hydraulic lines. Made it home alive.

There had better have been a smile on your face. But now for the big question, Was Wendy smiling, because that's the true litmus test for crypty. I'm glad to see all these posts about you enjoying this car. You've made Annie and I very happy.
Dave, Annie and Girls (Erin and Michaela)!!!

Yupper, for the very first time
Wendy said she was enjoying her ride
in Crypty. Although, for now, her left
leg kinda gets burned up with the tranny
cover barely attached and no carpet.

We passed 2 cars and truck on the beach
highway! Downshift to third and punched it!

Really grim all the ice and snow you folks
have to contend with.

d

Makes me feel do good after all your trials. Now for an interor redo with heat proofing under the new carpet.

Thanks Jack!

Heat proofing matertial ordered past Friday.

Many lessons learned from Doc Bill's trials and
tribulations with his floor pan replacement.
Mine will go much faster (I hope).

Then I'll be back begging to know where all the
carpet installation fasteners go. DPO Pedro had
some K-mart blue light special carpet glued directly
to the floor pans, tranny cover, etc.

d

Wow.....Look at all those spare parts in the boot!

Congrats on your successful trip....
(eventually, when you become more confident, you can leave the Snappy roll-away at home /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif )

Beautiful car - nothing like what I expected to see based on your "Crypty" posts....glad you didn't need a spare part because, from my experiences, what you would've needed probably wasn't in the trunk.

Thanks Tony, greatly appreciated.

I know very little about hard core auto mechanices,
but if something contains more than one piece, I'll
find a way to take it apart and refurbish it!!

As said, DPO Pedro would not recognize Crypty as
being the same POS, bucket of bolts car he sold
Wendy 15 months ago.

I'm chomping at the bit to get the new floor pans
installed so I can finish the interior with the
new wool carpets.

Everything in the interior has also been taken apart
and refurbished.(including the door insides)

d

AWRIGHT!!!

You're apparently now in front of the: "fix one thing, three more break" curve!

Now it's "improvement" projects! WOOHOO!!!

Right you are DR! And ya know what?

It really, really, really feels grand!!

19 days operational without a single breakdown.
Usually starts on first crank. Shuts down instantly.
Rear no longer bottoms out on bottle cap.

Now, it's time to make Crypty the handsome fellow
he wants to be.

off to the mines for me, running waaaay late today.

Can't help but agree with Tony, Ya painted a grimmer picture!! That looks Sweeeet! You can now enjoy all that great weather in that one eh? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif This was my fun-in-the-sun at Sebring, hehehe!! The straps from awnig to racecar were to hold the awning down!!

Then I will take that as real compliment of
a Mission Accomplished. DPO Pedro would not
recognize his own car! 15 months of sweat, cusses
and much help from friends here produced this
outstanding looking 1969 TR6!

It was indeed a grim portrait 15 months ago.

Hey a favor for me. Go throw a clam shell off the
Jupiter inlet rock jetty for me? Fond memories.

d

Ya got it man!! Good excuse to go get some clams for din tonight, hehe!! Don't tell me you were one of the "inlet crowd" that used to hang in the park there??!!!

Mike, Mike, Mike................

I was the guy at the end of the jetty slinging
a 9 foot surf rod catchin' snook and shark.

I'm guessin' the "inlet crowd" might have taken a
glance a time or two when I drove the red rocket
Lotus Europa to who was catching what with which baits?

Good on ya Tinster. Your boot full of spares made me laugh...
My passenger floorwell looks like that at the moment. My brothers and me occasionally ride with a bike club (Hash Bikers - nothing to do with the funny cigarettes!!!). Mostly Harley riders. We have Jap bikes so we get there first.....lol.
Regards
Craig
P.S. What is the difference between a Harley and a vacuum cleaner?
The position of the 'dirt bag'....(only joking!!!!!really)
