crumy story

Oh go see a locksmith, a real one. Look in the yellow pages and call first.

OK... just occurred to me. Maybe she was trying to remove the key to give it to you for safety reasons. ...just trying to give her the benefit of the doubt.

Walshja, So glad to hear that it work out OK for you. I also did learn from your experence and went out first thing Monday morning and got a new key made for mine. I realize that most of your battle was getting the broken key part out, but your story did prompt me to action. Thanks

As far as Happy Wife, Happy Life. I am counted with the crowed that certainly has a KEEPER. She enjoys the Sprite and is very supportive of me to get the two Big Healeys completed. But I do have to say that I have shown a great deal of interest in her hobby. Quilty is not too bad, and can be very relaxing. We go to the races, I look at the cars, she quilts, and we enjoy life. Together. Can't ask for anything more.

these comments and reflections are great !!

the locksmith and Trevor hit on something which made me feel better. I should be VERY happy that she broke the key, because what would have happened if she got it started !!! cRaZy huh !!

I stopped by a lock smith today to get some spares made and asked him what he would do, "thin wire bent tip, slide along the broken shank, turn to catch the first cut, pull it out".

yea, I tried that for a couple of hours, with bobby pins, paper clips, and anything else I could find. the position you gotta be in to work the lock was back breaking as well.

like everything else on our cars, the lock cylinder is small, no room to get anything around the broken key to grab anything.

the locksmith had to use this tool that looked like a wire, he would insert the wire into the groove on the key, then twist the tool which would somehow grab the key. took him a good 45 minutes of trying and almost giving up before getting the key out.

i'm just glad this episode is over !!
