In my installation, I mounted the aluminum plate to the original dimmer switch mount and moved the dimmer switch higher up on the plate. A little awkward for using the switch but not bad. If you look at the picture again you will almost see the mounting screws directly to the left of the clutch pedal. I also put non skid tape on the plate. I find the plate useful for a little resistance exercise for my left leg when driving.

Too bad I don't have a dimmer switch. I did pass the picture of the dead pedal on to my sho[, and actually found another one while doing a search on the web. This could be a nice little cottage business for somebody to build these things.

Yes, it's white canvas. I needed a new frame and found one with a white top on ebay. Now I see the guy advertising with a picture of my car. I installed it in December last year, and it's only been up once since -so I don't know how hard it is to keep clean. I had a 380sl and an alfa with removeable hard tops and swore I'd never go that route again, unless it retracts into the trunk. The hard top is always where you don't want it. Some think the car looks better with the (white) top up, than down. I like having the option.

"Tom the Frugal Zealot" -I may have to copy your dead foot when I get that far with my TR3. Thanks. -And I'm thinking the TR6 (or my leg) could use something like that too.

Yes, this is the one that I found while searching on the web! The aluminum (aluminium) looks great. Did you do this?
 
Yes , It was really very easy & it works great. All you need is a piece of aluminum angle 1-1/2X1-1/2X8". I drilled hole & brushed the finish for cosmetics.

There will be a more detailed article in one of the up coming 6-Pack editions, I don't know when though. If you need more info or pics let me know.
 
I already sent the picture to the shop after I found it on the web yesterday, plus the description of how you made it. I wouldn't mind a few more pictures to send to him if it isn't too much trouble.

This is definately something that I could do, but I am in Korea. When I come home, a just want to jump in the car and go... so I have a fantastic shop that does this stuff for me.
 
The trick is getting the right size stainless washers and nuts so when the bolt threads stick out through the fender, there will be no rust lines.
