Crankshaft Pully Clearance

As I stated in an earlier post the clearance between the crank pully and the frame crossmember in only approx .25-.50 inches after installing the engine. I checked the crank pully and it appears to be installed correctly. What should the clearance be? Any other suggestions as to what could be wrong?

Not measured it, but the clearance on my BJ8 cannot be much over 0.25" as it is a bit of a struggle to pass a new fanbelt between them - and the belt is 3/8" profile. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/england.gif
 
Ray/Andrew, the clearance between"The Crank shaft pully" and the frame crossmember should be an inch or more. However, if the measurement you made is from the end of the Dog nut then the clearance stated is OK.-FWIW---Keoke
 
Thanks for the input, Keoke and Andrew. It would appear that the clearance is the same as Andrew has on his BJ8.

Should be able to fire up the big beast in the very near future.
