Crank Case Pressurized

Hello to everyone. Newbie here. I have a 1977 MGB that has been de-smogged and has had a weber DGV installed. Here's the problem: I have an oil leak that seems to be coming form the rear seal. After doing a little checking, there is steady stream of pressurized air coming out of the valve cover vent (That connects to the C. canisters). When you remove the Oil cap (non-vented) the pressure is released but I suspect that the crankcase is becoming pressurized and forcing the oil out of the rear seal. Make sense to anyone? Any suggestions? Should I change to a vented Oil cap? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Check to see the cover on the left front of the engine has it's vent tube routed to either the air cleaner or a spill bottle. If not, that'd help. And p'raps remove the cover and wash it in mineral spirits WELL as it has a funny little "filter" in it and they get munged up.

...and welcome to the Whacko Ward. Please take a number and have a seat right over there.... Someone will be with you directly. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
