Covid-19 hits home

My niece came down with Corona a few days ago. Stuck in her bedroom but she still tried to work. Yesterday she had the dry heaves but her fever went down. Feeling a little better today. Her parents are both compromised; he with lymphoma, she with some auto-immune deficiency. My daughter dropped off a couple of masks today. We hope they didn't catch it.

Paul - that's rotten news.

She's still at home? Was she actually tested and diagnosed with COVID19?

Tom M.

She was never tested but ran a high fever. But - my nephew says dry heaves are not a sign of Covid-19 so maybe she just got an ordinary flu bug that traveled to her stomach. She is feeling better today. My hometown is close to NYC and there are many cases there.

It is scary as we learn of friends, and family, who test positive. Most of those I know of have pretty much recovered. I fear that more will over time as the Lehigh Valley, being home for a number of workers in New York, has become a hot spot for COVID-19.

Dave - good to hear from you.

Are you all still up at your Pocono property?

Tom M.

No, there is not much for shopping there, and we came home so Peg could sew masks, and I worked more on my slot car layout and photo archives of America On Wheels. I have been posting one car from the 12 years of the museum daily on the museum's Facebook page. I had fun reworking a number of old photos, and I finished another structure on the layout.

Good to learn your niece is recovering. COVID-19 Antibody, serological testing of fingerstick whole blood, plasma or serum samples, is now available for those recovering or asymptomatic. This'll become another important test to track / survey extent of the pandemic and possibly determine when our "collective" immunity is such that we all could return to work or whatever we were doing before the pandemic.
